Disability

Disabilities can happen to anyone at anytime. In fact, you are much more likely to be disabled than to die. However, many more people have life insurance, but most overlook disability insurance.

Disabilities may happen at work, in which case you may be covered by worker's compensation insurance. However, this may not provide coverage for all of your needs, and only covers you if you get hurt at work. What happens if you are injured on the weekend?

You might be covered by a group long-term disability policy, but this too may not provide total coverage for every obligation that you have. If you were unable to work, who would pay for your:
  • Mortgage payment?
  • Short term debt like credit cards?
  • Car loan?
  • Groceries and personal needs?
  • Medical co-pays or doctor bills?
  • Children’s education or child care?
  • Normal monthly bills?
Personal disability coverage is surprisingly affordable. Policies may cover you for a period of as short as 2 years, or as long as until you turn age 65. Disability policies are truly customizable to your specific needs, and allow you to specify the exact amount of coverage, the elimination period, and the benefit period that you desire for your coverage and cash flow.
